From Apple's journal #22

Battlefield: the kitchen
Weapon of choice: Pizza
Winner of the night: Scarlet Redd
Savior of the kitchen: Velvet, the canine super-cleaner
Best moment: Ruby trying to give Andrew a piece of her pizza re-decorating his shirt and spending the next 5 minutes eating pizza off him.
Funniest moment: Mia looking at Scarlet in shock because she just manage to stick a pepperoni slice in the middle of her forehead.
Sweetest moment: Ruby and Mia feeding me and cleaning my face with a napkin full of sauce while Andrew laughed. Then they looked at each other and while Ruby pointed at my nose Mia said " you are a very messy mommy!"
"I'm a bad mom" moment of the day: Velvet wanted to lick Scarlet clean... And I let him. She giggled the whole time and he did a very good job.
"AWWWWW" moment of the day - Andrew with 3 girls around him trying to wash his face and almost giving him a bath.
"Way too adorable" moment of the day - Ruby running of somewhere after looking at Andrew's shirt which was soaking wet and coming back with one of Owen's sweaters for him to change into.

The bright side of life with Hope #6

Things I'm grateful for

I really need to inject some positive energy around here to clear the gloomy mood. Let's face it, thinking about how life sucks is not going to help anyone.
So come on! Let's move on to greener pastures.
I bet I can find something to be grateful for every single day. I bet it isn't even that difficult.
Today I'm grateful for:

A long conversation: I have a friend that's far away right now and we've been having these long conversations on the phone about everything. He's been a sweetheart and keeps me company and makes sure I'm not doing anything stupid.

Music: I have new music to listen to. The kind I really like. You know those songs you hear once and love them instantly? I have 3 new ones!

Food: Yeah.. I'm one oh those who eat their problems and they say it's not healthy. I say " shhhhs, I'm enjoying my lunch!".

With love,
Hope

Revenge's black list #5

Honesty

Yes. This one is for you.
How dare you?
You told me I was being dishonest with you when I was only telling you the truth about what was going on?
Was I the one agreeing to something and then not following through?
Was I the one who was not able to keep a secret and let people know what was going on?
Did I not keep my end of the deal?
You know, you can be the sweetest guy in the world... but when you try to guess what I'm thinking and start acting like you know the "real reason" why I'm doing something you can also be a jerk.
Next time you question someone's honesty don't do it just because you don't like the truth they are telling you! For honest people that is quite offensive, you know?

From Apple's journal #21

Getting the kids to sleep is like making a recipe. A very complicated, delicate recipe.
Every one has their rituals.
If Owen was with me he would take Ruby and they would brush their teeth together while I washed Scarlet.
Then they would follow me to Scarlet's room and I would read them a story while Scarlet drank her bottle.
They would both kiss her goodnight and I would put my arms around them, cuddle them close to me and we would sing a lullaby. We would leave the lamp with little stars on and the music box playing and leave quietly.
I would then give a bath to Ruby while Owen picked his socks for the next day and get Ruby's pjs.
Time to tuck Ruby in while Owen plays in the bathtub. She asks me what she will dream about and I tell her a different thing every night.
Then it would be Owen's turn. I help him get dressed, kiss him goodnight and call Velvet to sleep at his feet.
Today was a bit different. Owen wasn't here and we had Mia.
I'm still learning Mia's routine. She likes warm milk before brushing her teeth and a sip of water after.
She hugs everyone in the house before going to bed and after I tuck her in she does the sweetest thing and sends a kiss to her daddy with the angels and says goodnight to mommy Billie like she was right there beside her.
If this routine is not broken or shaken in less then 30 minutes I have them all sleeping.
I check their rooms about an hour after just to make sure they are covered and sleeping well.
It's a science.
It's easier to make a soufflé... but not as rewarding.

From Apple's journal #20

Sugar rush might just be a myth... but the excitement that a bag full of candy, ready to be eaten causes in little girls is very real.
Halloween was fun and exhausting. Mostly fun.
Mia and Ruby were delighted to be dressed as princesses. They twirled around in their dresses, they giggled as I took care of their make-up and they marvelled at the sparkling nail polish I used for their nails.
Scarlet was less interested in all the fuss. The only make-up that girl wants on her face is the one she diligently applies every meal. She was however very pleased to be snow white because that meant she could munch on red apples all day long.
Mia and Ruby got along great. They shared their candy, they played together. There were no war cries because a toy was stolen. I'm not used to such calm environment when Owen is not around. When it's just Scarlet and Ruby and they have to focus all their play energies on each other the house turns into a battlefield.
At night I had to go to Chicago to give a concert and Andrew surprised me there. Dressed as a prince he fit well with the 4 princesses he had to accompany.
After the show we were supposed to get dinner and spend some time together but everyone was just too tired and the little ones were unsettled by the lack of routine so we went to the hotel to get some rest.

From Apple's journal #19

Superglue. That's what I'm sure Ruby got on her hands when she saw Owen here in New York. She has latched on to him and I can't get her to let go. Even with the promise of ice cream.
I totally get the feeling. That's exactly what I felt like doing when I saw my little man after so many days.
He's been having fun spending time with his dad and Misa and he looks so big!
Scarlet looked at him, smiled and then asked for a cookie. That child's life revolves around food. Not that she eats much of it. Most ends up in her clothes, her hair and everything around it.
